Inwood Coffeehouse opens season eleven with the engaging vocal harmonies of Side By Side |
Side by Side (Doris Justis and Sean McGhee) celebrated their 27th Anniversary this past May. They were part of two wonderful concerts in April – the 25th Annual Concert for the World Folk Music Association and a concert with the legendary Chad Mitchell Trio! Side by Side is noted for their close vocal harmonies and guitars backing their original songs and original interpretations of the best folk/acoustic songwriters then and now. The duo has shared the stage over the years with Tom Paxton, Nanci Griffith, the Chad Mitchell Trio, Noel Paul Stookey and Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul & Mary), Mary Chapin Carpenter, Bill Danoff, Jon Carroll, Schooner Fare, Christine Lavin and the Limeliters to name a few. They have performed on local area stages that include the Clarice Center for the Performing Arts, the Schlesinger Center, the Kennedy Center, the Birchmere Music Hall – headliners of both in 1999 – Baldwin's Station, and Center Stage and at Washington's Starland Café. They were featured each summer at the annual Paw Paw Folk Festival in West Virginia and appeared at the Washington Folk Festival, Takoma Park Folk Festival and Golden Link Folk Festival in Rochester, NY. Doris and Sean performed with John Denver's band in two tribute concerts in Aspen, CO and are featured on the CD from those events. Doris is producing a concert featuring the duo on April 29, 2012, to celebrate John Denver and his music. |
