Winter Light: A Celtic Solstice Celebration
|
|
In a program featuring the skirl of the bagpipes, hearty wassail songs and carols, foot-stomping fiddle tunes, 19th century broadside songs, and original seasonal compositions, OCEAN Celtic Quintet will transport you to the warmth of Yuletide celebrations of yore. This holiday program will feature the quintet's soaring Celtic vocals and high-energy instrumentals. Known for marrying lighthearted exuberance with great spiritual depth, OCEAN is led by composer and ethnomusicologist Jennifer Cutting (accordion and keyboards), WAMA's 2004 Musician of the Year and Songwriter of the Year. OCEAN also features the nationally renowned Baltimore fiddler Rosie Shipley, award-winning bagpiper Bob Mitchell, and stunning vocals from Grace Griffith and Lisa Moscatiello (themselves multiple WAMMIE winners and Artists of the Year).
