Aspen Hill Trio
Music for Guitar, Cello and Woodwinds

Lon Ephraim ~ guitar
Fred Lieder ~ cello
Loran McClung ~ woodwinds, keyboard

Lon Ephraim -- guitarist, singer, composer, arranger, and teacher--spent a number of years as a band leader before concentrating his energies on studio performance and musical arrangement. His playing and arrangements can be heard on recordings by Jon Simon, Robyn Helzner, and two-time Grammy Award winners Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer. Committed to arts education, Lon teaches music to incarcerated and homeless children for Montgomery County Public Schools' Department Of Alternative Programs. He is also developing a comprehensive music-education web site with Dance Place director Carla Perlo.

Fred Lieder combines classical, jazz, rock, blues, and celtic influences on his cello. He has performed in such diverse venues as The Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap, Birchmere, Blues Alley, Iota, Black Cat, and Rams Head. A much sought after studio musician, Fred has appeared on over 40 CD's as a guest artist. He currently tours throughout the country with WAMA award winning singer/songwriter Lisa Moscatiello.

Loran McClung, woodwind player with the Army Concert Band, was for many years lead alto player for the Army Jazz Ambassadors. A gifted arranger, Loran was part of the Army's talented writing staff where he crafted outstanding arrangements for the Army's various ensembles. Loran is also an accomplished recording engineer who produces recordings for the Army and, in a private capacity, for local musicians.

This versatile trio will be performing unique arrangements of Jazz and Latin flavored standards along with original compositions.
